GUSTAVO GIMENO RETURNS TO GERMANY FOR CONCERTS IN BERLIN AND MUNICH
3/11/2022
Gustavo Gimeno conducts Staatskapelle Berlin in concerts on 7 and 8 November, at Staatsoper Unter den Linden and Philharmonie Berlin respectively. He conducts Martin Grubinger in two percussion concertos: Peter Eötvös’ Speaking Drums and Tan Dun’s The Tears of Nature. The programme is completed by Sofia Gubaidulina’s Fairytale Poem and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.1.
Gimeno then travels south to conduct Munich Philharmonic on 12 and 13 November, with Beatrice Rana performing Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s ARCHORA receives its German premiere after the world premiere earlier this year at the BBC Proms, and the second half of the concert features Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.
