Nicolas Altstaedt is a recipient of Gramophone Classical Music Award in the Chamber Music category for the album Round Midnight recorded together with Quatuor Ébène and Antoine Tamestit for Erato Records. This ambitious project is centered on the literal passing from day into night, then its metaphorical passing back into day; accomplished by bringing three contrasted works into unlikely accord. Recording includes Henri Dutilleux’s Ainsi la nuit, Raphaël Merlin’s Night Bridge and Arnold Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht.
