Sakari Oramo opens the 2022/23 season with BBC Symphony Orchestra

Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Sakari Oramo, opens the season at the Barbican Centre on 5 October. The programme includes the world premiere of Sophie Lacaze’s Sigh of Stars, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 performed by pianist Boris Giltburg, and Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Suite No.1.
On 9 October, Oramo performs in two concerts as part of the Total Immersion series. He performs works by Sibelius, and is joined by Anu Komsi for the evening concert, who performs Nightride and Sunrise, The Echo Nymph, Soluppgång, and Luonnotar. The Finnish storytelling closes with the impressive Tapiola. Both concerts are narrated by Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.
