Pierre-Laurent Aimard to be awarded the Léonie Sonning Music Prize
30/9/2022
The Léonie Sonning Music Prize is Denmark’s most prestigious music award. Since Igor Stravinsky was selected as its inaugural recipient in 1959, subsequent winners have included many of the greatest names in classical music: Bernstein, Britten, Rubinstein, Menuhin, Shostakovich, Boulez, Ligeti and Messiaen to name a few.
On 7 October, Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s name joins this list. He is the eighth pianist to receive this honour, which will be officially presented during a concert at DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. Pierre-Laurent Aimard will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 with Royal Danish Orchestra under the baton of conductor Sylvain Cambreling.
