Sakari Oramo conducts Gewandhausorchester and NDR Elbphilharmonie

Sakari Oramo begins two weeks of concerts in Germany with the Gewandhausorchester and NDR Elbphilharmonie.
Oramo conducts Leipzig’s Gewandhausorchester on 24 and 25 March, leading an exciting programme of Clyne’s This Midnight Hour and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with young Swedish violinist Johan Dalene, finishing with Sibelius’ Lemminkäinen Suite which the orchestra will perform for the first time in its entirety. Friday’s concert will be broadcast live on MDR Klassik at 20:00 CET.
Oramo continues his performances in Germany with the NDR Elbphilharmonie, conducting Elgar’s Violin Concerto with soloist Christian Tetzlaff and Schumann’s Symphony No. 1. Two concerts will take place at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie on 31 March and 1 April, with a further concert on 2 April at Kiel’s Wunderino Arena. The programme will be broadcast on NDR Kultur on 3 April at 11:00 CEST.
Two further concerts follow on 3 April, with Oramo bringing the sound of Finland to the Elbphilharmonie in Sibelius’ Tapiola and rounding off the performances with Schumann’s First Symphony.
