On 28, 29 and 31 August, Maxime Pascal conducts Tokyo Nikikai Opera Foundation in performances of Alban Berg’s Lulu at the Shinjuku Bunka Center, Tokyo. Delayed from July 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, these performances mark a return to Nikikai for Pascal, who worked with the foundation earlier this year in a semi-staged production of Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila.

Lulu is directed by Karoline Gruber, with sets designed by Roy Spahn, and is sung in the original German. Mari Moriya and Akiko Tomihira take the lead role.
