Josep Pons, Music Director of the Gran Teatre del Liceu has extended his contract until the 2025/26 season. His tenure began in 2012 when he was appointed to build a new project from and for the orchestra. In these nine years, the formation has become a leading orchestra in Spain that has renewed his repertoire and is now an important player in the digital market. Next season the orchestra will perform Bartøk’s Bluebeard’s Castle at Paris Opera and will start a new partnership with the French label Harmonia Mundi. 

Josep Pons is honorary conductor of Spanish National Orchestra and Granada Orchestra and collaborates regularly with the main European orchestras.
