Allison Cook creates world premiere at the Barbican
27/5/2021
This week marks the world premiere of Errollyn Wallen’s Dido’s Ghost at the Barbican, London on 6 June. The piece moves beyond the tragedy of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas within Wallen’s imaginative new setting. Frederic Wake-Walker directs with the Dunedin Consort under John Butt.
Allison Cook has an established talent for creating new works, her most recent successes including Francesconi’s Quartett, Gerald Barry’s Alice’s Adventures Underground, Thomas Adès’ Powder Her Face, Saariaho’s Émilie, and Casablancas’ L’Enigma di Lea.
