Following numerous praised performances with the Orchestra since 2001, Sakari Oramo was invited to step in for Alan Gilbert to conduct the Berliner Philharmoniker in a concert on 5 June at 18:00 CET. The programme is built around Unsuk Chin’s Piano Concerto performed by Sunwook Kim who debuts with the Orchestra. Oramo also conducts Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No.2 which the composer himself called ​“the confession of the soul”. The concert will be streamed live on the Orchestra’s Digital Concert Hall. 

Oramo travels to Berlin straight from Stockholm where he conducted an all Sibelius programme called Sibelius with Oramo. In four concerts, the audience enjoys all seven Symphonies by Sibelius, the Violin Concerto with Lisa Batiashvili performing the solo part, Finlandia Op. 26 and Luonnotar Op.70 with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
