Hailed as ​“world class” (BR Klassik), ​“unmissable” (The Times) and ​“a revelation” (Die Welt) after her role debut as Agathe in Carl Maria von Weber’s Der Freischütz, the star of South African soprano Golda Schultz just keeps on rising. Dimitri Tcherniakov’s new production for Bayerische Staatsoper, stopped in its tracks by Covid-19, was live streamed to a digital audience. In a performance conducted by Antonello Manacorda, Schultz impressed with an unforgettable interpretation of the role, marking a new chapter in her career as she moves into the lyrical heroines of the operatic repertoire.

Schultz repeats the role as part of the Münchner Opernfestspiele in July 2021, where she also appears as Contessa Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro.
