Women Set the Tone: Gender Equality in Classical and Contemporary Music
24/11/2020
On 26 November at 18:30 GMT, Institut Francais is hosting a panel discussion on the topic of gender equality in classical and contemporary music. The event is being held in partnership with Academy La Maestra, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Paris Mozart Orchestra, and features our very own conductor Stephanie Childress who was second prize winner of La Maestra conducting competition earlier this year. She is joined by composers Anne Lovett (Faber music), Angèle David-Guillou (laureate of Diaphonique, our Franco-British fund for contemporary music / Village Green), Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (Manners McDade) and Héloïse Werner (The Hermes Experiment).
The event is being held in the wake of the inaugural edition of the Maestra International Competition for Women Conductors last September, and as part of Institut Francais’ ongoing strand, “Women Shaping the World.”
You can tune in to the event via the Facebook & YouTube pages.
