Riccardo Minasi and Orchestra La Scintilla recorded two identically titled, yet stylistically different compositions – ​‘The Four Seasons’ by Antonio Vivaldi and Giuseppe Verdi. In Vivaldi’s famous concerti, Minasi proves himself to be a brilliant soloist and pays tribute to his teacher Paolo Centurioni, with whom he studied Vivaldi’s music in his childhood. The rest of the album features ballet music by Verdi, written 125 years later for his opera I Vespri Siciliani. This pairing gives the ensemble the opportunity to showcase both the breadth of its repertoire and its considerable flexibility, with Verdi being performed on period instruments.
