Susanna Mälkki and Leila Josefowicz join forces with the Los Angeles Philharmonic
29/11/2019

LA Philharmonic’s Principal Guest Conductor Susanna Mälkki and soloist Leila Josefowicz are joining forces for a series of concerts this December. On 6 December Mälkki conducts Beethoven’s Symphony No.3 Eroica and Knussen’s Violin Concerto performed by Josefowicz, with Knussen’s Flourish with Fireworks on 7 – 8 December.
On 10 December Mälkki and Josefowicz come together for a special tribute concert that commemorates their beloved colleague Oliver Knussen, another HarrisonParrott artist, who sadly passed away last year. They have co-curated a chamber music programme that surrounds three of Knussen’s compositions alongside works by his friends, colleagues and students – Colin Matthews, Helen Grime, Hew Watkins and Jonathan Harvey. Josefowicz will perform Knussen’s Reflections with regular recital partner John Novacek. This concert forms part of the Green Umbrella series, a project founded by the LA Philharmonic and curated by Mälkki among the likes of Herbie Hancock, Andrew Norman and John Adams.
