Pekka Kuusisto is joined by the ACO Collective to perform the world premiere of Nico Muhly’s new violin concerto Shrink at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 4 December. The work for violin and strings is co-commissioned by the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Recital Centre, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra with the kind support of the MCO Foundation and, Scottish Chamber Orchestra. 

On his working relationship with Muhly, Kuusisto said, ​“Nico is remarkable. Ever since our first collaboration together, several years ago now, we made a pact to keep working together, and the latest fruit from that is this new concerto.”

Kuusisto will tour Shrink throughout the 2019/20 season: 
10, 11, 12 January 2020 with St Paul Chamber Orchestra (North American premiere)
10 and 11 March 2020 with Norwegian Chamber Orchestra (European premiere)
08 April 2020 with Mahler Chamber Orchestra (German premiere)

22, 23 and 24 April 2020 with Scottish Chamber Orchestra (UK premiere)
29 and 30 April 2020 with Swedish Chamber Orchestra (Swedish premiere)
