30/8/2019
Lawrence Foster returns to the Enescu Festival to conduct the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, marking the start of his first season with the orchestra as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor. He conducts a program of Adrian Pop’s Solstice for Orchestra, Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1, featuring soloist Szymon Nehring, and Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra.
Descendant of Romanian parents, Foster has been a regular guest conductor in the Festival in the last 16 years, with The Telegraph also once noting “Lawrence Foster seems to have been put on this planet to conduct Enescu’s music.”
Following the Festival, he goes to Opéra de Marseille, where he has been Music Director for the last six seasons, to present a production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
