Peter Eötvös — Russian premiere of Three Sisters
10/5/2019
16 May 2019 marks the Russian premiere of Peter Eötvös’ opera, Three Sisters (1996 – 1997). The opera was first performed in Lyon in March 1998, and have since then become seminal work with more than 130 performances around the world.
The opera has a characteristic debt of sound by having two orchestras involved. One of the orchestras will be performing from the pit, while the other is located backstage. There are a total of four performances of this opera at the Ural Opera, 16, 17, 18 May and on 16 June. Peter conducts the premiere on the 16th, sharing the baton with Oliver von Dohnayi. The opera is performed in Russian, and the performances take place at the Ekaterinburg State Academic Opera And Ballet Theatre. In March 2020, a revival of the opera is planned at the Wiener Staatsoper.
