The cities of Amsterdam and Cologne see the premiere of newly commissioned work, akin by composer, Michel van der Aa this week. Accompanied by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and under the baton of Peter Eötvös, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Sol Gabetta perform the newly completed Double Concerto in two concerts. After the World premiere on 9 May in Cologne as part of the Eight Bridges Festival, the duo perform on 10 May at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Michel van der Aa’s akin was commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Kölner Philharmonie/Acht Brücken Festival, with financial support of the Performing Arts Fund NL.
Also included on the programme is Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra and Eötvös’ own composition, Alle vittime senza nome, which receives its Dutch premiere on 10 May.
