HELSINKI PHILHARMONIC EASTER FESTIVAL TOUR
26/3/2019
Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and their chief conductor Susanna Mälkki along with violinist Pekka Kuusisto embark on a European tour in Vienna, Dortmund, Amsterdam and Katowice. The tour comes to a close at the 23rd Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival founded by Elzbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki, in Warsaw.
Finnish composer Wennäkoski kicks off the programme in Dortmund, Amsterdam and Vienna with the electric Flounce, which had its world premiere at the Last Night of the Proms in 2017, and is paired with Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Violin and Sibelius’ Symphony No.2. Concerts in Warsaw and Katowice will see Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 performed alongside Sibelius’ En Saga.
