Tongyeong International Music Festival opens officially on 29 March with Behzod Abduraimov playing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.3 with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester conducted by Maestro Michael Sanderling.
On 30 March, Behzod plays Mendelssohn’s Sextet with the Fabergé Quintet; and on 1 April he gives a solo recital with a programme including Liszt’s transcription of Wagner’s Isolde’s Liebestod, his Sonata in B Minor, and Prokofiev’s own transcription of ten pieces from his ballet Romeo and Juliet. All the concerts are taking place at the Tongyeong Concert Hall, nicknamed ‘The Crashing Waves’.
