Sakari Oramo returns to Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia
1/3/2019
Following his acclaimed performances with the orchestra back in 2016, Sakari Oramo makes a welcome return to the Orchestra e Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia this week, conducting three concerts at the Auditorium Parco della Musica on 7, 8 and 9 March. The programme begins with Sibelius’s melodrama Snöfrid and ends with his First Symphony; Emanuel Ax is the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1.
Thereafter Oramo journeys straight on to Sweden, to conduct the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in two concerts – featuring Radu Lupu as the soloist for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23, Liebermann’s Furioso and Sibelius’s Symphony No.2 – on 13 and 14 March. The following week he and the RSPO embark on a short Swiss tour, with concerts in Zurich (Tonhalle Maag), Geneva (Victoria Hall) and Lucerne (Culture and Congress Centre: Lucerne Hall) on 20, 21 and 22 March. Martin Fröst joins as the soloist for performances of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto alongside Furioso and Mahler’s Symphony No.1 “Titan”.
