Jean-Yves Thibaudet sees in the new year with back-to-back performances of Messiaen’s Turangalîla Symphony, first performing with Baltimore Symphony, Marin Alsop and Nathalie Forget (10, 11, 12 and 13 Jan) then with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Susanna Mälkki and Cynthia Miller (18, 19, 20 Jan). Thibaudet will perform the piece again later in the season with Nashville Symphony, Giancarlo Guerrero and Cynthia Miller (17 and 18 May). 

Known to be a formidable piece, consisting of 10 movements and lasting 80 minutes, The New York Times has praised Thibaudet for playing ​“the daunting piano part commandingly.”
