Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs at the BBC Proms in celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s centennial year. Returning after his 2008 appearance, Thibaudet performs Symphony No 2: Age of Anxiety with Marin Alsop and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, marking the Orchestra’s debut performance at the BBC Proms (27 Aug 2018).
Naxos released the album “American Classics: Bernstein” in January 2017 featuring Bernstein’s 2nd Symphony as performed by Thibaudet with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
In this, the centennial year, Thibaudet has already performed the symphony with National Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestre National de Lyon. Following the Proms he will go on to perform the piece with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic and Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to their performance at the BBC Proms, Thibaudet, Alsop and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performed Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F at Edinburgh International Festival (24 August).
The BBC Proms performance will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and available to watch on BBC TV on 31 August.
