We jump into November with Iceland Symphony Orchestra’s debut tour of Japan with conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy for a 12 date tour across the country. In a programme including works by Icelandic and Finnish composers, piano soloist Nobu joins throughout the tour and performs Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.2.
At the same time, we take period instrument ensemble Il Giardino Armonico on tour to Europe with their conductor Giovanni Antonini and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, in a programme featuring five newly commissioned works.
We end November by taking Scottish Ensemble to‘Istanbul İş Sanat’ with piano soloist Gabriela Montero, and also head off to Vienna with Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi, where they explore Schubert Symphonies No.s 6, 8 and 9. They are joined in all three concerts by Christian Tetzlaff performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.2.
We just can’t leave DKAM alone, and start December by taking them on a 10 concert tour to Japan and South Korea with soloist Hilary Hahn. We end the year with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and conductor Xian Zhang on an extensive tour to China.
