Alban Gerhardt returns to Sydney Symphony Orchestra

Alban Gerhardt returns to the Sydney Opera House to perform with Sydney Symphony Orchestra, this time with the world premiere of Brett Dean’s Cello Concerto composed specially for him. The programme also includes Brahms’ Symphony No.4 and Elgar’s Serenade for Strings conducted by David Robertson.
Highlights of Alban’s 2018/19 season include the European premiere of Dean’s Cello Concerto with Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sakari Oramo, and concerts with Hong Kong Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, and WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln under Jukka-Pekka Saraste, with whom he will record both Shostakovich concertos.
