Small Gifts of Heaven: Andreas Scholl’s latest release and tour
27/10/2017
When J. S. Bach dedicated his “Brandenburg Concertos” to the margrave Christian-Ludwig, he labelled them as “small talents” given to him by the heavens. Under the title “small gifts”, Andreas Scholl together with Dorothee Oberlinger and her Ensemble 1700 present a pure Bach programme with a selection of vocal and instrumental works which gives a lively impression of Bach’s musical rhetoric.
Andreas Scholl sings in recital as part of Les Grandes Voix with a programme of Vivaldi, Handel and Bach with Dorothee Oberlinger and Ensemble 1700 at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées on 22 December.
Accompanying the CD’s release on 3 November (Sony) is a European tour of the programme, complemented with works of Vivaldi and Handel, from 28 November. Venues include deSingel Antwerp, Riehen, Tonhalle St. Gallen and Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern.
