Susanna Mälkki returns to the Berliner Philharmoniker
1/9/2017
Susanna Mälkki begins her 2017/18 season this September making her long-awaited return to the Berliner Philharmoniker. On 9 and 10 September she conducts the Orchestra at the Berliner Philharmonie as part of the Berliner Festspiele. The programme features Busoni’s Tanz-waltzer and Bartók’s Violin Concerto No.2 (performed by internationally acclaimed violinist Gil Shaham), and finishes with a nod to the conductor’s Finnish roots in the form of Sibelius’ stirring Symphony No.2.
The Berliner Festspiele is a renowned fixture in the European cultural calendar, known for its interplay of different art forms including classical music, jazz, theatre, fine arts, and historical exhibitions.
The concert on 10 September will be streamed live on the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall.
