Vienna’s Konzerthaus celebrates Boulez with three HarrisonParrott artists
19/5/2017
This month Jörg Widmann, Tamara Stefanovich and Pierre-Laurent Aimard are all part of Vienna’s Konzerthaus Boulez retrospective. The Konzerthaus is paying homage to Pierre Boulez in its 2016/17 season with concerts of almost all of the works that he regarded as sufficiently finished or ready to perform, in performances by friends and colleagues.
On 24 May, Jörg Widmann performs Boulez’ Dialogue de l’ombre doublewritten for live clarinet and it’s pre-recorded counterpart with the SWR Experimentalstudio in a programme also featuring Boulez’ Anthèmes 1and 2 as well as his own Drei Schattentänze. Then on 29 May Tamara Stefanovich and Pierre-Laurent Aimard present Boulez’ Piano Works in an all Boulez evening – a programme that earned the two pianists great reviews for recent performances. The New York Times described this all-Boulez performance as “radical, yes; extreme, for sure; but stunningly inventive and supremely musical”.
