Hannu Lintu debuts with NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester
12/5/2017
On 18 May Hannu Lintu makes his debut with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester.
Stepping in to replace Christoph von Dohnányi, he conducts a programme of early-20th-century classics: Sibelius’s Tapiola, Berg’s Violin Concerto (with soloist Vadim Gluzman) and Nielsen’s Symphony No.4. The programme will be repeated on 19 May, with a further performance of the Sibelius and Nielsen on 21 May.
Lintu and Gluzman are long-time collaborators, with previous performances including Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto (Oregon Symphony Orchestra), Schnittke’s Violin Concerto No.4 (Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra) and Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.2 (The Cleveland Orchestra). In April 2018 Gluzman will join Lintu and the FRSO again for a performance of Pēteris Vasks’ Violin Concerto ‘Distant Light’.
