Regular collaborators Hannu Lintu and Angela Hewitt team up on 5 October to perform the world premiere of Matthew Whittall’s new piano concerto Nameless Seas with the NAC Orchestra, Ottawa. 

Specially written for Hewitt and commissioned by the PianoEspoo Festival and Canada’s National Arts Centre, the work forms part of a programme dedicated to music inspired by the ocean, also featuring Sibelius’s Oceanides and Symphony No.2. 

Ottawa marks Lintu’s second North American appearance of the 2017/18 season and is hot on the heels of his three concerts with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on 22 – 24 September, featuring Dvořák’s Violin Concerto with soloist Hilary Hahn among other works.
