This week, Barbara Hannigan returns to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Agnès in George Benjamin’s Written on Skin. Conducted by the composer himself and directed by Katie Mitchell, the run opens on 13 January and Barbara shares the role with Georgia Jarman who performs on 18 & 27 January.
Elsewhere on the operatic stage this season, Barbara reprises her acclaimed portrayal of Berg’s Lulu at Staatsoper Hamburg under Kent Nagano and alongside Anne Sofie von Otter as Countess Geschwitz, and returns to the UK in the summer as Ophelia in the world premiere of Brett Dean’s Hamlet at Glyndebourne.
Georgia Jarman returns to Covent Garden following her highly-praised debut there two seasons ago as Roxana in Kasper Holten’s new production of Krol Roger, and next up she travels back to the US for performances as Norina (Don Pasquale) at Atlanta Opera.
