Christopher Ventris and Ain Anger join the Wiener Staatsoper on tour in Tokyo as Siegmund and Hunding, respectively, in Sven-Eric Bechtolf’s production of Die Walküre. Conducted by Ádám Fischer, performances are on 6, 9 & 12 November.
One of the world’s most popular Siegmund’s, Christopher Ventris has sung the role for Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Semperoper Dresden and most recently at the Bayreuth Festival, where he returns in the role this summer. On his return from Japan, Christopher jumps straight into rehearsals as Parsifal for Dutch National Opera under Marc Albrecht before bringing this role to Vienna in the Staatsoper’s new production.
Ain Anger continues to appear in Tokyo later this month as Fafner in Semperoper Dresden’s tour performances of Das Rheingold conducted by Christian Thielemann and, next up, takes on his first performances as Hagen in Götterdämmerung for Canadian Opera Company under Music Director Johannes Debus.
