Stephen Milling returns to Deutsche Oper Berlin this week as Gurnemanz, one of his signature roles, alongside Derek Welton’s Klingsor in Philipp Stölzl’s production of Parsifal. Conducted by Music Director Donald Runnicles, performances open on 16 October.
Milling’s season continues with performances of Das Rheingold in Tokyo on tour with Semperoper Dresden under Christian Thielemann, Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and a return to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Pogner in Kasper Holten’s new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Now a member of Deutsche Oper Berlin’s ensemble, Welton goes on to reprise the role of Heerrufer (Lohengrin) in the house, and takes on his first Wotan in Das Rheingold.
