27/6/2016
This year’s Trasimeno Music Festival begins on 30 June in Perugia when founder and artistic director Angela Hewitt appears with La Verdi conducted by Hannu Lintu. Hewitt performs Brahms’ Piano Concerto No.1 and Lintu also conducts La Verdi in Schumann’s Symphony No.4, following performances with the orchestra in Milan on 28 and 29 June.
Hewitt and Lintu and the orchestra join forces once again on 1 July in Foligno when they also perform with Matthew Sadler (trumpet) and Pieter Wispelwey (cello). Repertoire for this performance includes Shostakovich’s Concerto No.1 for piano, trumpet and strings, Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet Fantasy-Overture.
The Trasimeno Music Festival was launched in 2005 and takes place in early July each year. Other performances at this year’s Festival include solo recitals by Angela Hewitt on 3 July in Cortona and on 6 July in Magione, a piano duo recital with Hewitt and Jeffrey Tate on 2 July, and a concert with Hewitt and Susan Bullock on 5 July featuring songs by Alma Mahler, Berg and Wagner.
