This week Edo de Waart performs his first concerts as Music Director of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The Dutch conductor is joined by mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn for Mahler’s Symphony No.3 at the Auckland Town Hall (1 April) and Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington (2 April).
De Waart and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra are then joined by Nicola Benedetti and Leonard Elschenbroich for an extensive tour of New Zealand with Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello and Beethoven’s Symphonies Nos. 3 & 5. The tour takes them to the Municipal Theatre, Napier (6 April), Tauranga Baycourt Addison Theatre (7), Founders Theatre, Hamilton (8), Auckland Town Hall (9), ASB Theatre Marlborough, Blenheim (12), Christchurch Horncastle Area (13), Dunedin Regent Theatre (14) and Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington (16).
