Lawrence Zazzo welcomes the New Year to Berlin with Purcell’s The Fairy Queen
18/12/2015

On 1 January countertenor Lawrence Zazzo joins the Akademie für alte Musik Berlin and RIAS Kammerchor for their traditional New Year’s Day performance. This year it is Purcell’s The Fairy Queen under Rinaldo Alessandrini.
Zazzo has enjoyed a busy first half of the season, including a highly-acclaimed debut as Orlando with Welsh National Opera, Athamas (Semele) with both the Händel-Festspiele Halle and Kölner Philharmonie, and Cardenio in Conti’s Don Chisciotte in Sierra Morenaon tour across Europe under René Jacobs.
In the New Year, Lawrence looks forward to performances of another lesser-known operatic work as Delio in Cavalli’s Veremonda at the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele. He also returns to the concert platform for Bach’s St Matthew Passion with both the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under Ivor Bolton and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under Pablo Heras-Casado.
