Christoph Altstaedt and Anna Gillingham debut at Theater Basel
11/12/2015
This week Christoph Altstaedt makes his debut with Theater Basel in a new production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte directed by Julia Hölscher. The production also features young British soprano Anna Gillingham who makes her house and role debut as Pamina. The premiere takes place on 19 December and performances continue until March 2016.
This is the second opera debut for Altstaedt this season – he recently conducted Glyndebourne Opera’s production of Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Lewes and on tour throughout the UK. Future opera dates include Opernhaus Zürich, Opera North and Finnish National Opera.
As a recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s prestigious Opera Course, Anna Gillingham made her international operatic debut as The Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw last season at Maggio Musicale Firenze, where she will return later this season as Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring. Elsewhere, Anna joins Lan Shui and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in concert performances of Carmen.
