Osmo Vänskä performs in Korea and Japan

Osmo Vänskä conducts Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time on 13 November at Seoul Arts Center. The programme starts with Sibelius’ Pohjola’s Daughter, followed by Kimmo Hakola’s Clarinet Concerto with soloist Kari Kriikku. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No.5.
Following his Seoul performance, Vänskä returns to Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra where he gives performances of three different programmes spread over three weeks. The programmes include works by Sibelius (including Symphonies No.1, 2, 5, 6 & 7) and Rachmaninov, and he collaborates with soloists Lise de la Salle and Elina Vähälä. The concerts on 21 November (Symphony Hall, Osaka) and 27 November (Suntory Hall, Tokyo) are filmed by Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV respectively for delayed broadcasts.
