“technically precise coloratura [that] is matched by the purity of her tone”
The Independent on Lauren Fagan
HarrisonParrott is delighted to announce its worldwide management collaboration with two exciting, young artists: bass-baritone Božidar Smiljanić and soprano Lauren Fagan.
Božidar Smiljanić made his professional debut at Glyndebourne Festival Opera as Captain (Eugene Onegin) and debuts at Garsington Opera as Haly (L’italiana in Algeri) this season. Currently in his final year on the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music with student performances this season including the title role in Le nozze di Figaro, Božidar was singled out by the critics for his powerful portrayal of Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress) at the Academy last season, with Opera describing his performances as “charismatic and velvet-voiced, simmering with subtle menace beneath his bonhomie and roaring magnificently in defeat”. A regular on the concert platform, Božidar toured a programme of Bach cantatas in the UK, USA and Germany last season under Masaaki Suzuki.
Lauren Fagan is currently in her second year on the Royal Opera House’s prestigious Jette Parker Young Artist Programme and, having already performed Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) and Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore) on the main stage last season, is now looking ahead to Muse (in Rossi’s Orfeo) under Christian Curnyn, Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) and Amante (Il tabarro) both conducted by Nicola Luisotti, and Ines in a new Il trovatore under Gianandrea Noseda this coming season. Lauren sang the central role of Giulia in Rossini’s La scala di seta at the Linbury Studio Theatre last season, leading The Independent to describe her as having “technically precise coloratura [that] is matched by the purity of her tone”.
