Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins HarrisonParrott for General Management Effective October 1, 2015
29/7/2015
Effective 1 October, 2015, HarrisonParrott will take on the worldwide representation of internationally acclaimed pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Thibaudet’s artistic depth and natural charisma have made him one of the most sought-after pianists today. He has performed around the world for more than 30 years and recorded more than 50 albums, including three popular film scores. The New York Times recently wrote of his playing, “Every note he fashions is a pearl…the joy, brilliance and musicality of his performance could not be missed.” In 2010 the Hollywood Bowl honoured Thibaudet for his musical achievements by inducting him into its Hall of Fame. Previously a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Thibaudet was awarded the title Officier by the French Ministry of Culture in 2012. This season, he tackles three artist-in-residencies: at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, and the Colburn School of Music.
Thibaudet comes to HarrisonParrott – to be represented by Joint Managing Director Lydia Connolly — after a tremendous 30 years of professional growth and collaboration with Mastroianni Associates and IMG Artists. He writes, “I leave my colleagues with nothing but fond feelings. I am blessed to have had a multi-decade career, and I look forward to the decades to come! I am thrilled about this new and fruitful partnership with Lydia Connolly and HarrisonParrott as I look to the future.”
Until 1 October all inquiries should continue to be directed to Kristin Schuster of IMG Artists.
This summer, Thibaudet makes appearances at Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and the Hollywood Bowl. With the Seattle Symphony, where he is artist-in-residence, he plays Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 5, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, and Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F; chairs the jury for the Seattle Symphony Piano Competition 2015; performs Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No. 2 with symphony musicians, and tours Asia. He opens his residency at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with James MacMillan’s Piano Concerto No. 3, which he premiered in 2011, and tours Europe with the orchestra. The residency also involves chamber music, a performance at RCO Club Night, and a master class. Thibaudet takes Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor on tour in the spring with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. Also this season, he gives a recital tour across the United States and Europe.
Setting up their own agency in 1969, Jasper Parrott and Terry Harrison pioneered a new approach to management – one that was intensively pro-active, international, and centered around the needs and aspirations of the artists. Today, that restless and challenging spirit is as strong as ever, shared across one of the most experienced teams in the business. Lydia Connolly has been with HarrisonParrott for more than 25 years and has served as Joint Managing Director since January 2013.
