24/7/2015
During the month of August, Angela Hewitt offers a number of varied candlelit performances as part of her residency at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe on London’s South Bank.
Hewitt’s residency begins with a solo recital on 1 August, featuring a complete performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Then on 3 August she is joined by actor Roger Allam for a unique programme that features readings from T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets and performances of spiritual music by Bach and Messiaen. Later in the month (23 and 24 August) Hewitt performs French music alongside soprano Dame Felicity Lott.
Also this summer Hewitt appears at the Edinburgh International Festival, performing a sold out recital of Scarlatti, Granados, Albéniz and Falla at The Queen’s Hall on 13 August.
