Alban Gerhardt returns to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto under the baton of Edward Gardner on 23 April at Symphony Hall. The concert, which also features works by Bridge and Tippett, is broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

Other highlights of Gerhardt’s schedule this season include performances of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Christoph König, and appearances at a number of European festivals such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Rheingau and Kissinger Sommer, with both concerto and chamber performances. Gerhardt will also conclude his season-long residency at London’s Wigmore Hall on 19 June.
