Anne Sofie von Otter is named winner at the 57th Grammy Awards for ‘Best Classical Solo Vocal Album’ with Douce France on Naïve Classique.
Having previously received many Grammy nominations and the Grammy Award for ‘Best Classical Vocal Performance’ in 2004 for a disc of Schubert Lieder with Thomas Quasthoff, Claudio Abbado and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, this win stands out for being von Otter’s first Grammy for a solo vocal performance.
Since its release in October 2013, the acclaimed album has become one of Naïve’s best-selling titles with Gramophone noting, “All listeners, whichever direction they are coming from, should expect a voyage of discovery…Only a singer with von Otter’s near-native grasp of the French language and style could bring this off…Against the odds, this two-CD set is a double pleasure”.
Anne Sofie von Otter continues to tour this critically acclaimed and popular programme having recently concluded a second recital tour of Europe with further performances planned in Aix-en-Provence and in Berlin.
Another HarrisonParrott artist who featured amongst the awards this year was John Adams — St. Louis Symphony conducted by David Robertson won ‘Best Orchestral Performance’ for their recording of Adams’ City Noir on Nonesuch Records.
