Sakari Oramo, Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, returns to the orchestra this month after a hugely successful summer of Proms performances.

He and the orchestra embark on a week-long tour of Spain, performing across the country in Alicante (18 October), San Sebastián (19 October), Zaragoza (20 October) and Madrid (21 October). Repertoire throughout the tour includes Strauss’ Don Juan, Ravel’s Piano Concerto, Stravinsky’s Firebird, Sibelius’ En Saga, Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5, and the soloist for both piano concertos will be Javier Perianes.

After the tour, Oramo returns to London with the orchestra to perform Strauss, Grieg, Sibelius and Stravinsky once more at the Barbican Centre on 24 October.
