Pierre-Laurent Aimard appears at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr
2/6/2014
Pierre-Laurent Aimard appears at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr, giving a number of performances and masterclasses. A recital on 2 June — featuring Etudes by Ligeti, Debussy, Chopin, Bartók and Scriabin — is followed by a series of masterclasses and performances from 3 to 6 June, as part of Aimard’s ground-breaking Ligeti Project.
Aimard and the Klavier-Festival Ruhr are currently developing the Ligeti Project, which will be an online resource devoted to the piano works of György Ligeti. Through a wide range of in-depth and interactive online materials, Aimard and the Festival aim to bring the composer’s music to a wider international audience and to encourage pianists to engage with the music. The development of the website is already underway and sections will appear online as they are completed, some time in 2015.
Following his engagement at Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Aimard returns to the Aldeburgh Festival for his 6th year as Artistic Director. He performs solo, duo and chamber concerts as well as concertos with both the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He also gives masterclasses as part of the Ligeti Project.
