Allison Cook stars in Kaija Saariaho’s monodrama Émilie – based on the life of 18th century scientist and mathematician Emilie du Châtelet — at the Salzburger Landestheater. The production, directed by Agnessa Nefjodov and conducted by Leo Hussain, opens on 24 May. Further performances take place on 28 May and 5 and 10 June.
In demand for her intelligent musicality and strong stage presence, Allison’s contribution to Richard Alston’s staging of Britten’s Phaedra was recognized in the citation for the production’s recent Olivier nomination. 2013 also saw Allison score great successes in both Thomas Ades’ Powder Her Face and Luca Francesconi’s Quartett.
