Yulianna Avdeeva undertakes an extensive tour of Italy and Spain with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev.
The tour begins in Bergamo on 13 May followed by Brescia on 14 May, when Avdeeva performs Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.3; both concerts are part of the Brescia and Bergamo International Piano Festival. Avdeeva is soloist in Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1 in Girona on 18 May, and for the remainder of the tour.
The musicians travel to Spain for dates in Barcelona (19 May), Alicante (20 May) and Madrid (21 May), and the tour ends in Zaragoza on 22 May.
Avdeeva’s recording of Chopin’s Piano Concertos on a period piano, with Frans Brüggen and the Orchestra of the 18th Century, was released last year to considerable acclaim — The Guardian noting that: “there seems to be a real spontaneity about Avdeeva’s approach. It’s as if by performing these works on a very different instrument she’s discovering a new range of possibilities, a new palette of keyboard colours.”
