Artistic Director of the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest / Dutch Orchestra and Ensemble Academy, Xian Zhang returns to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra for concerts on 23 and 24 January, which also feature Martin Fröst as soloist.
Entitled “The Human Body”, the programmes include the world premiere of Detlev Glanert’s Frenesia – specially commissioned by the orchestra for these concerts – Bartók’s Dance Suite and Lutosławski’s Overture for Strings.
Martin Fröst is soloist in the Dutch premiere of Anders Hillborg’s concerto Peacock Tales, which he has now performed more than 100 times throughout the world. He also performs Lutosławski’s Dance Preludes (which he most recently performed in Paris with the Orchestre National de France under David Zinman) and Penderecki’s Prelude for solo clarinet.
