Founded in 1997 with the vision of being a free and international ensemble, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra is a nomadic collective of exceptional musicians, with 45 members of the core ensemble spanning 20 different countries and uniting for specific tours in Europe and across the world.
With a sound characterised by the tight ensemble playing of its alert and independent musical personalities, the MCO’s core repertoire lies in the Viennese Classical and early Romantic periods, while the orchestra also plays contemporary works and world premieres.
Following their vision of freedom in their music, the orchestra has created a programme called: Feel the Music where they can provide music to deaf and hard of hearing children through interactive workshops in schools and concert halls.
HarrisonParrott was delighted to work with the MCO on their tour to China in October 2015 and since, violinist Pekka Kuuisisto has become artistic partners with them.
