Bach Collegium Japan: 30th Anniversary Concert
Celebrating Bach Collegium Japan’s 30th Anniversary with this special online concert recorded in Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall and re-broadcast on Virtual Circle. The Ensemble perform a beautiful programme of Bach works culminating in his masterful and exciting Magnificat written in 1723 for the people of Leipzig. Masaaki Suzuki performs on the organ for Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue, one of the most haunting and tempestuous pieces of music in all of Bach’s output. Bach’s choral cantata Jesu, der du meine Seele based on the hymn by Johann Rist, demonstrates the joyful singing of Bach Collegium Japan’s chorus and their skill in singing the baroque repertoire.
