LAWRENCE RENES RETURNS TO SOUTH KOREA
1/8/2025
Lawrence Renes makes his debut at the Seoul Arts Center International Music Festival this year, conducting the Festival Orchestra in its opening and closing concerts.
The opening concert takes place on 5 August, and focuses on three sublime works by Richard Strauss: Don Juan, Der Rosenkavalier and Ein Heldenleben; the closing concert, on 10 August, features pianist Jan Liesicki in Beethoven’s Concerto for Piano No.3 in C minor, followed by Mahler’s Symphony No.1.
Renes returns to Korea for concerts on 31 October and 1 November, this time leading the Korean National Symphony Orchestra with trumpeter Matilda Lloyd as soloist in the vastly popular Concerto for Trumpet in E‑flat major by Haydn. Also on the programme: the prelude to Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and Bruckner’s Symphony No.4.
